Frequently asked questions
How many public holidays does Cyprus have?
Fifteen a year. Several of them move each year because they are tied to Orthodox Easter, such as Green Monday, Good Friday and Easter Monday. That is why the number of working days is not the same every year.
How many working days are there in a year?
Around 250 for a five-day week, but the exact number changes each year depending on where the holidays fall. If a holiday lands on a weekend, the year has more working days. The calculator counts the real days between two dates with the holidays already removed.
How much annual leave am I entitled to?
The minimum is 20 working days for a five-day week and 24 for a six-day week. Your contract or collective agreement can give more, never less. Public holidays do not count against your annual leave.
If a holiday falls on a weekend, is it moved?
Not automatically. In Cyprus a holiday falling on a Saturday or Sunday is not moved to the Monday unless your contract or the sector's collective agreement explicitly says so.
