Vehicles first registered from 1 January 2014: the fee is progressive on grams of CO2 per km. Example: 130 g/km = 120 × €0.50 + 10 × €3 = €90.

Pre-2014 vehicles: a fee per cubic centimetre, with the band's rate applied to the whole engine capacity. Maximum annual fee €1,500. Fully electric vehicles are exempt.
Vehicles first registered in Cyprus from 1 January 2019 (mostly imported used cars) carry an additional annual amount by Euro class and fuel. The Euro class is on the certificate of conformity; confirm the amount with the Road Transport Department.

Where do I find the CO2 figure?

On the registration certificate (field V.7) or the vehicle's certificate of conformity.

When is the deadline?

Renewal opens in early January. For 2026 the deadline was extended to 31 March. After the deadline there is a €10 penalty plus 10% of the fee.

Can I pay for 6 months?

Yes, a six-month licence is available at a small premium. The calculator shows the annual amount.
